Chrome extension
designed to enhance online accessibility - the Color Contrast Analyzer.
Designed by the IT Accessibility Office at NC State University, this extension has been a major player in the
Chrome Extension
Store
. It is a tool that analyzes text color contrast problems on a webpage in accordance with the WCAG 2 text color contrast requirements. With its unique features, it has received a substantial aggregate rating of 3.3 out of 5.
The extension's features make it one of the
top Chrome extensions
for accessibility. Users have the ability to analyze a portion of a webpage, the entire visible contents of a tab, or an entire webpage. Image files and PDF files on your computer can also be evaluated if opened in
Chrome
. The extension generates an output map outlining the edges between colors that meet the specified contrast requirement. This visual aid can be downloaded as a PNG file due to the
chrome extension
screenshot feature in version 1.1.
User Reviews and Feedback

download
.
The Future of the Color Contrast Analyzer
With the need for updates and improvements cited by users like SP_, it is clear that the developers have room to enhance the
chrome extension
manager. This should ideally include upgrading to WCAG 3.0 standards, addressing the crash issues, and revamping the design to match modern website designs.

Wanted to add a newer review since it seems it wasn't working properly in the past. Right now it's working great on the latest Chrome/Chromium. Super useful to quickly check contrast on a page where normal contast analyzers may not be sufficient.
Page region: on a wide monitor only the top of the page is selectable. I cannot drag the rectanlge to the botton of the page.
Quite useful, works for me, a bit slow though.
Sooo; what do I do? Help link broken.
causes console errors when enabled Unchecked runtime.lastError: The message port closed before a response was received.
I was wondering if it wolud be possible to update it to WCAG 3.0, works amazing
Used to be a great and simple plugin. But looks like it doesn't work anymore :(
It works alright for scanning parts of a website, however scanning a whole page makes it crash, forcing me not only to restart it, but also to reinstall it several times. It is a good idea, and if these bugs are fixed it is well worth a 5-star review, but not until then.
Tried to run it and crashed each time
It worked when I originally downloaded it, now it doesn't do anything.
the topic of degree was pointless
